CoolingRegardless of whether it is an industrial plant or an office building - a seamless and individually tailored supply of cooling from central cooling systems guarantees a high level of energy efficiency.

Already today, more than 20% of the demand for cooling in Germany is used for the air conditioning of buildings, with a steadily rising trend. Larger office buildings, museums, theatres and shopping centres in particular often require technologically generated cooling.

The most efficient way to do this is to air-condition buildings using so-called passive cooling. This can be achieved, for example, through shading systems or the intelligently controlled introduction of cold night air. Thermally activated building component systems, so-called TABS, are another possibility. Here, cold water flows through pipe systems in floors, walls or ceilings and thus cools the building. Another advantage of thermally activated building components is their storage effect, so that in times of high outside temperatures the peak load for cooling is lower than with conventional systems. Groundwater aquifers or geothermal energy are usually used as regenerative heat sources, and in combination with a heat pump the buildings can be both cooled and heated.

Another innovative way of producing cooling is combined heat, power and cooling, in which a CHP plant (CHP or gas turbine) drives a thermal chiller (adsorption or absorption plant) in the summer when no more heating energy is needed. This makes better use of CHP plants and thus increases the efficiency of this technology. In the case of high cooling demand in densely built-up commercial areas, the generated cooling can alternatively be transported to the buildings via central cooling networks. With the right design, this often enables further cost savings compared to many small decentralised cooling systems.

In the future, the use of renewable energies, e.g. solar heat, to generate cooling will become increasingly important.

Within the framework of a cooling supply contract, CENERO supplies buildings and plants with cooling. Since we act as an independent player on the market, we always select the most sensible system technology for our customers from a holistic point of view. Our service portfolio supports you from the energy concept to project development, planning to the complete realisation with construction, financing and the full plant operation.

We will be happy to advise you in detail on the subject of cooling supply.
